You’ve Just Got That…that…erm..that..’Likability’ Factor!
You either have or you haven’t. Some have it in bucket loads. Others have none.
There are those you avoid like the plague and those you can’t wait to get down the pub with.
It’s an odd thing as you often can’t put your finger on it. Some you like, some you don’t.
However, in business…this is BIG! It is MAJOR. And sometimes, of EPIC proportions. Depending on the sector you are in, and the interactions you have with potential customers and clients your ‘likeability factor’ could be the making or breaking of your business!
It doesn’t matter how good, how cheap, how reliable you are…if they don’t like you, they won’t want to buy. So, if someone is forced to do business with you (out of necessity because your product/service is unique, or your costs are currently more competitive), they will soon look elsewhere when the opportunity arises. Some will even pay more to deal with someone they like – even if their product or service is inferior! Ouch!
The human psyche – never underestimate it!
So, this whole ‘likability’ factor is not to be sniffed at. But it is something you can work on. Here’s our top tips:
- Be positive. Light up a room
- Treat people with respect
- Shut up. (did you see that full stop?)
- Pay compliments – make people feel great
- Get stuck in. Be involved. Be sociable
- Be helpful. Be kind
- Love what you do! (or stop)
- Be you. Be utterly true to being you
